The La Grange Church of Christ is a group of Christians who strive to glorify God in everything we do. We meet together on the first day of the week to remember the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We seek to honor and praise God through our worship and by living lives which are acceptable to Him. Every first day of the week we observe the Lord's Supper, which was an act of worship instituted by Jesus before His death. Our singing is acappella, which was the custom of the first century church. Scripture is read as a reminder of what God has done for us and why we worship God. We give back a portion of the blessings God has bestowed on us. We communicate with God through prayer and a sermon is presented to glorify God and to edify one another. If you are ever in La Grange we hope you will join us for worship.
All of God's creation is good and human beings were created in God's image. When sin entered the world it began to corrupt God's good creation by introducing things such as pain, disease, death, etc. Sin also separated humanity from God. God never intended for the earth to be corrupted by sin and for humanity to be separated from Him, so He set forth a plan to redeem humanity and the world. God spoke directly to men like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He promised to make a great nation of Abraham and his descendants. Abraham's descendants, Israel was God's chosen nation. He freed them from Egyptian bondage and revealed His will for them through the law. By following the law they would be an example to other nations and ultimately lead them to God, but sadly Israel failed at this task most of the time. When the time was right God sent His Son to this earth. He was born of a virgin and was a descendant of Abraham. Jesus taught the people what it meant to be a follower of God, as well as, performing many great miracles. In order for men and women to enjoy fellowship with God there needed to be a sacrifice. The sacrifices of animals were inadequate, so Jesus willingly went to the cross and gave Himself as a sacrifice for all humanity. His blood is the only thing that will cleanse people of their sins and allow people to have fellowship with God. After three days in the grave Jesus was resurrected from the dead and walked this earth once again. His resurrection gives Christians hope that we will also receive a resurrected body in the future. After Jesus ascended back to heaven the Holy Spirit was sent to guide His followers into all truth. The church was established and the followers of Jesus, who were now called Christians, continued the work of Jesus. They went into all the world preaching the good news and baptizing many for the remission of sins. The church continues this same mission today. Jesus has called Christians to be a light in this world. We strive to help those who are in need and share the good news with as many people as we can. We still live in a fallen world, but one day Jesus will return and make all things right. God will redeem His people and His creation.
